Activity Experiments--for Science!

Hello Polychromatids! Your mods here with an announcement:

We are going to be conducting an activity experiment as of the month of May.

Beginning in May, you will have two options for activity.

In May, you may...

1) Post at least once to [community profile] poly_chromatic with a Network post that is generally open to the game at large (as per our standing activity policy)

OR

2) Provide proof of activity with 3 threads totaling a minimum of 30 of your character's comments, carried out with 3 other different characters

COOL!

So you can either post 1 time in a month or write 30 comments to 3 different characters in a month. Posting still counts as activity! But now you have an additional option for activity. (You can also post more than once, for sure, and you can tag thousands of comments in a month, if you so desire. These are the minimum requirements. So go nuts!)

A few additional notes about the comment method:

→ if a thread is 20 comments long total, and your character posted 10 comments and the other character replied 10 times, then that counts as 10 comments for your character, not 20.
→ icon-spamming or multi-part comments count as 1 comment
→ only comments posted on entries in [community profile] poly_chromatic will count towards activity. You are welcome to have an action post/phone post in your character's journal, but note that any comments there will not count towards activity.
→ the comments must be on a post that was put up, or to a thread that was begun, in the month of the activity check. For example, if you started a thread in March and posted ten comments to it in April, those comments do not count towards the April activity check.

Since this is a big change in Poly's activity methods, we have a few other notes of explanation

The moderators will no longer be keeping track of player activity.
In the past, we've kept up with which characters posted and created an inactivity list at the end of the month based on our records of which characters posted and which did not. But now, as with many other games, players will be expected to provide proof of their activity at the time of the monthly activity check.

Please keep up with your own activity.
You will be expected to provide direct links to your posts and/or threads when the activity check post goes up! You are welcome to use your character tag (canon name - character name) to mark posts in which you have comments if you choose to provide comment threads.

The activity check post will go up five days prior to the end of the month.
You will then have those five days in which to provide your activity in the post. The inactivity list will go up on the first of the following month. In May, the post will go up on May 26 and you will have until June 1 to provide your activity. The inactivity list will go up on June 1. Reclaiming an inactive character will work basically the same, but...

1 activity strike will require double the activity the next month.
If you do not have either 1 generally public Network post or 30 comments spread between 3 different characters, then you will be expected to provide double the activity in the following month: 2 Network posts or 60 comments, or 1 Network post and 30 comments.

If you are on hiatus for the month, you do not need to fill out the activity check post.
Please be sure to email the mods (polychromatic.mods@gmail.com) if you need to take a hiatus and do not think you will be able to make the activity requirements.

Logs in [community profile] tampered do not count towards activity at this time.
Please only provide either posts in [community profile] poly_chromatic or comments to posts in [community profile] poly_chromatic. Text, voice, video, or action, as long as it's in-character and in [community profile] poly_chromatic, it counts.

→ Please note, above all, that this is an experiment. If it doesn't look like this method of activity counting is working, the mods reserve the right to modify or remove it completely.

Whew! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them here and we'll answer them.

Thank you, Poly! And happy RPing!

Question!

Just to clarify, if a post or thread occurs during the activity check period (so occurring this month sometime between May 26 and June 1), can it still be submitted for that month's AC?

I assume yes, since it's still taking place in the month of, albeit during the AC period itself, but I just wanted to make sure. o/

Excellent!

Thank you for the clarification, modbot! o/

This sounds awesome~! I do have a question, though.

In many of the games that I have been in where you do your own activity, you put your tag on any post you've tagged - not just ones you've posted. This really helps come a/c time. Could this be an option, if not for this month, maybe in the future?

Oops, sorry, I guess I missed that in the post! Reading comprehension fail. Thanks!

Late question! Do joint/shared posts count towards the one post a month rule?

What happens if a thread gets jacked? if one character has two people replying and together that makes ten comments for them does that count even though it's split 5 and 5 to those responding?

Ah merci, that means it counts. :D
