I really do agree with the possibility of using fake-cuts that lead to personal journal posts. While the decision to change to a comm-based format is currently leading, there is still a substantial number of people who prefer the journal based system-- who might have even joined the game for that aspect.
It would be a fair compromise, I think.
Personally, a journal based system lets me keep a solid record of every post I've made, making it easy for me to go back and check facts (or just reminisce.) I've played at both community-based games and journal-based games, and community-based games have made it difficult for me to keep track of old posts. Being diligent to tag your posts helps, but what happens when the community's tag limit is reached? Old character tags will have to be deleted. Or what if you drop a character and someone picks up that same one?
