APPLICATIONS, PART DEUX

We've been looking over all your suggestions, ogling the poll and giving things some definite thought - limiting apps seems like a bad idea, from what you all are saying, and we certainly have a... rather restricted amount of personal time as well.

So... here is what we've come up with: usually, in a month, we have one week of apps, one week of no apps, one week of apps, one week of no apps. We will maintain two weeks of apps/month, unlimited slots, however - we will have to reserve the right to delay a verdict for as far as an entire week-of-apps - week-of-no-apps interval (two weeks). That means that if, say, you app something tomorrow? The worst off you can ever come is to have a verdict for your app fourteen days afterwards. As a rule, we sure as hell don't expect to take the entire week after the submissions week to decide on a verdict; doubtlessly, we'll at most need two or three days from it. But it's still an expanse of time that will do honest to God wonders, so... let's not deride it.

What this entails, practically:

app weeks will stay as they are, in a seven-day + unlimited slots format;

verdicts will be begin to be awarded during the app week itself, but might take as much as the week after the app week ['verdict week'] for certain applications;

app thread will remain open for permanent viewing;

if you submit an app after the end of an app submission week [during a 'verdict week'], we will not take it into account, and furthermore delete it. No questions, no comments;

there will be no more reserves.

I don't know how well I've managed to explain that, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask for an elaboration? The broad of it is that we just take an extra few days with passing on verdicts, while maintaining the same app week format.

Clearly, this is a trial process. If this fails utterly, or makes you sincerely miserable, we will go back to the drawing board and find another way to compromise. But insofar, how does it all sound to you? Questions? Comments? Stones?

Are the reservations still there for the next application week?

This system would imply we'd exclude the reserve system altogether.

The one beginning tonight? Sure thing! We're only excluding apps hereon because if - God forbid - we end up passing out final verdicts the day before the new app week, or something, obviously no one will know whether to reserve until then. So, ah, yessum.

IT TOOK A READ OR TWO TO GET (but that's mostly because I missed yesterday's post. orz I should put this place on e-mail tracking).

Overall, it looks fine and will probably help a lot~ The lack of reserves is sad (D= How will I know who to glee at?), but understandable.

I missed the last post as well as brain farted trying to get through the second paragraph (but I have an excuse, I was reading minute fonts in textbooks!) but what I did get, I think I like. No reserves is a good idea, there were definitely issues with the reserve system.

I think I just confused the "We will maintain the two week of apps" and read that as two consecutive weeks of apps which conflicted with your first bullet point of seven days. But I think I've sorted that out now!

With no reservations, then is it a first come, first serve type of system?

If you get the char, then yes. No certainties that every app that gets submitted is approved, naturally.

*nods* Right, but if you get two apps, will the best app win, even if the first app in would be good enough to be accepted, but the second app is better? Does that make sense? I'm taking Nyquil, so it may not.

We'll be doing it as we have before when there were no reserves for a particular char - first come, first served. Otherwise, if I for instance get an app for char A in App Day One, right? Do I wait until App Day Seven to see that I do or don't have some other app for the same char to compare it with? That's not exactly productive.
