& AS WE WALK DOWN THIS ROAD OF MEMORIES...
A few things have come up that need to be discussed, and discuss them we shall. We've mentioned this before, but we understand that some people can miss announcements due to going on hiatus, or new members have never seen them, so it never hurts to revisit old rules.
Now I know a lot of you older players are used to Poly running on PST [ GMT -8:00 ], but please don't forget that we changed the Poly timezone to EST [ GMT -5:00 ] awhile back. I've seen people going by PST still, and even if only a couple people start this, other older players might see it and get confused and go along with it, and of course newer players are learning by following your lead...and then it's just confusing all around.
So when the clock hits midnight on the United State's east coast? That means the curse is over, folks, unless one of the moderators makes an announcement stating otherwise. This also means that a curse will not start until midnight on the east coast. Please don't cheat just because you're in a different time zone and claim to be confused as to what time it is on the East Coast. It's very easy to simply look it up on Google.
=====♥=====
To follow that up, we understand that not everyone will be able to participate in a curse day, but that doesn't mean it's okay to add in an entry late and simply add in an OOC note asking people to pretend that it's earlier. It disrupts the flow, all right?
If you are late to a curse, you can feel free to actually backdate the character's entry. LJ gives you the option at the top of the 'Post An Entry' page. Granted, this means that some people might miss it because they aren't willing to scroll back that far on their F-List, but...them's the breaks.
Also, if you do backdate your entry, say so in an OOC note somewhere, or people might get confused as to why an entry's showing up where there was nothing before.

We've received some complaints from players who use the
polychromatic F-List to read character entries, saying that some character journals haven't shown up, or that they miss certain announcements because of that. Our answer?
Once upon a time,
polychromatic was everyone's OOC community, meaning people had all of their character journals Friend it. But then that community became the Mod Playground, and
poly_extra was created for you folks. When that happened, lots of players realized there wasn't much point to having their characters join the
polychromatic, and so oftentimes, people will neglect to have their extra characters join the community, because...guess what? It's not really necessary to have all of their characters watch it.
So do NOT depend on Poly's F-List to keep you updated on everything. We have a perfectly good Friend Add/Remove List, and we work hard to keep it constantly updated so that everyone can use it easily. We would appreciate it if everyone would use it. To those who complain that it's too much work or too complicated? A few easy reminders:

[ Friend Add/Remove List ]
We've received some complaints from players who use the
DO NOT RELY ON THE
polychromatic FRIEND'S LIST.
Once upon a time,
So do NOT depend on Poly's F-List to keep you updated on everything. We have a perfectly good Friend Add/Remove List, and we work hard to keep it constantly updated so that everyone can use it easily. We would appreciate it if everyone would use it. To those who complain that it's too much work or too complicated? A few easy reminders:
- ALWAYS comment there when you gain or drop a character, so that we can keep it properly updated.
- Do not request an Add or Remove for anyone else's character. This has caused complications in the past.
- If you have multiple characters, you really only need to keep one of their F-Lists updated. Simply focusing on one character's F-List will be much easier.
- Because of the Friend Add limit that LiveJournal put into effect, you do need to wait 24 hours sometimes to add more, but in a period of 3 days you should have everyone in the Alphabetical sections added. You should only have to do this once during your stay at Poly.
- Once that's done, all you need to do is update from the weekly Add List on the bottom. To make sure that you don't miss anyone, always check the Add List by midnight of each Sunday before the new application period starts, in case there were any last minute add requests.
- Also be sure to copy and paste from the Remove List regularly.
- The Remove List will always be erased and refreshed the 1st of each month.
- The Weekly Add List will always be erased and refreshed the Monday of each new application period.

So hows about this simple solution as a compromise.
friend add polychromatic
There's a post on polychromatic like what....once every 2 weeks? And on top of that, it's usually just one big LJ cut. It's not a big deal to have every journal friend it.
Just my 2 cents. You can have the other 98 later. :3

Having them add polychromatic to their f-list will not make all the character journals show up on poly's f-list. That option will make it easier for people to see polychromatic's announcements, but it won't add all the journals to poly's f-list, which is the main problem I was addressing.
And in regards to how the applications period has changed... In truth, you only HAVE to check the Add List once every two weeks. It really isn't very difficult for you to check the Add List by midnight of the Sunday prior to Application Week, now is it?

But when to check it? I understand that the mods are using something new so an established time period for when mods are done being approved hasn't appeared yet. During the week when apps aren't being accepted, they are still being approved so "friend add" requests are still trickling in up until the add list is deleted and a new one is started.
You could say the solution is "add them Sunday afternoon". Which would be a solution if I didn't (and probably some others too, beats me) work 10 Sundays out of 16 on second shift.
I know you can't please everyone. If I'm the only one speaking up about it, feel free to dismiss it. I'm just trying to raise a voice for those who don't wish to speak up.

But I had this blah feeling that people are still gonna be lazy. Is it honestly that much trouble to update atleast ONE character journal's list?.. Or maybe it's because I have no life. =D;

One question--is there a place where we can see the dates of the application weeks? I know it used to be noted on the calendar, but when I checked I didn't see it? And it's not on the application post either, I think...
