Actually, taking Alice out might help Rosella perk up a little, too, since she always tries really hard to fake cheerfulness around Alice, even when she's upset. So some of it might very well stick along the way.
And I am entirely convinced that C.S. Lewis was a troll before his time, enabling future generations for piles upon piles of lion jokes on the internet.
