I will go down with this ship....

The year is 1912, and your character has just boarded the finest and most majestic ship ever built, the RMS Gargantuan. Whether they're First Class, Second Class, or too broke and have to go Steerage, they've all boarded by the midnight on the 14th, and the cruise is well underway! It's a little early in the year to cross the Atlantic, but this ship is unsinkable, and the Captain is positive everything will be fine.

However, at 11:40pm on the 14th, an iceberg will be spotted by the trusty lookout, and just after midnight on the 15th, the ship will hit it. Lifeboat room is hard to come by, so women and children first! At 2:20am, the ship will reach its watery doom, sinking to the bottom of the sea!

~If your character is onboard, they will be cursed to think it's actually 1912 and they are passengers, so feel free to use this post to arrange who your character is! Are they first class or third? Are they a worker aboard? Maybe they're a stowaway! (Please note that your character can't be the Captain or the First Mate as those are NPCs!)

~If your character is of the supernatural variety, they're welcome to remain so, but they may want to keep their powers/abilities hidden, after all, this is 1912 Earth! If your character is not humanoid, they will become so for this curse (or an animal, if your character is more animal than human!) but revert to their usual selves on the 16th!

~Your character cannot leave the ship until it begins to sink, and how they leave then is up to you! Maybe they get on a lifeboat or maybe they don't, but there's no going overboard until the iceberg gets hit!

~If your character is uncursed and on shore, they won't be able to see the ship from the beaches! A foggy mist has risen and has made the ship hide from view. However your characters will still be able to communicate via Network devices!

~If your character should manage to get on a lifeboat, they will dock on the beach at midnight on the 16th. If your character should go to the bottom of the briny deep, they'll return to the City on midnight, unhurt and exempt from City Death!

~For the duration of this curse, the uncursed back on shore can notice a couple of things: first off, that the weather is a little colder than usual! The sharp-eyed will also notice that the slide in the Playground will be missing! Wherever did it go?

A fine young doctor from Bohemia, with just a hint of Czech accent under his refined English. Robert Chase, scion of much lauded medical stock, has been just everywhere that was anywhere in London this season. His father's money having bought his ticket on this inaugural voyage, he's all set to repeat the performance on the other side of the Atlantic.

Wanted: vile bodies bright young things Chase might know from either the social or medical circles he moves in. Friends, lovers, ex-lovers, anyone who knows his father, or that his dear mother suffers terribly with 'fatigue'. Former patients. People he may have encountered from other walks of life. All of the plots. All of them.

I'm not sure yet if he'll survive or not, but he's unlikely to jump a boat ahead of someone who needs it more. If anyone wants to plot survival/drowning I am also down with this.

Howl will be prattier than usual as a noble Welshman who works for the king. He'll still be a wizard, but using his skills in secret. Too bad he didn't see the iceberg coming...

She is a rich bitch, now she's just a rich bitch in 1912, which is about 20/30 years too early for her to even know what the Reanimate virus is, so I will have to replace it and make her one of those unfortunate victims of bad early 20th century medicine, which was inflicted upon her due to her rather unladylike ways.

She will be in the care of her brother Donovan, who will not be making an appearance unless you ask his ugly NPC face appear. Especially since she spends most of her time slipping away from him to do what she really wants. UNLESS SOMEONE IN GAME WANTS TO BE HER CHAPERON.

They're Spaniards by birth, but both have been taught the good queen's blah blah blah.

James Wilson

Oncology was a young, exciting new specialization in the medical field of 1912; cancer research had gone on for centuries, but it wasn't until advancements in the area provided a greater knowledge of how the disease functions that it became an area of expertise unto itself.

James Wilson is the sort of physician who's honestly in it more for the sake of helping people than the money. Not that he doesn't enjoy the latter, as his first class ticket will readily indicate, but it's not by any means the primary motivation for his practice. So Oncology, a field in the early stages of its development that still lost the majority of its patients, seemed like a field that could use his specific brand of empathy. (Let's be honest; not much has changed aside from the year and therefore the advancement of the field.)

He's just returning from a conference overseas, and has decided to book passage on the Gargantuan. After all, he has to make the trip somehow; why not make the voyage itself an event?

Heads-up to the rest of the ship, folks: He's a bleeding heart, and likely to ignore class distinctions. This has earned him no small degree of mockery from his peers, but it also means that when things go south, he just might be involved in trying to help anyone and everyone get aboard lifeboats.

I am more than open to (and hoping for!) some pre-established CR for him, so please hit me up :3

Hazuki Mina

Hazuki will be, mentally, in a state before she was disowned by her grandfather and became a Contractor. Meaning she will be without powers, but also capable of a lot more emotions than usual, (though still hardly emotional). She is accompanying her grandfather, actually, on his... "business trip".

She has been making the rounds of social circles in London, putting in appearances for her grandfather while he circulates among the underworld, (sometimes visa versa), and so you may have seen this rare "Oriental" about in a high or low class situation. (Did you know there were only about 500 Japanese people in England in 1910? Wow, wikipedia, you are amazing.)

Once the ship starts to sink, you had better bet she's going to steal or commandeer a child or young person to increase her chances of getting in a lifeboat.

Looking for volunteers for people she's wined and dined/slummed in the underworld with OR young person who wants to be used mercilessly for a lifeboat spot.

Lady of Lannister

Polite and charming in public, yet a touch more ruthless, manipulative and cold to those who actually know her. Recently widowed, although there are some rather strange rumours circulating about the death of said husband... Was his hunting accident from natural causes, or was it something more? It was clear he loved to drink and to whore and it was also clear she did not approve... Regardless, her father thought it would be best for her to leave the country for a time to see some of the world during her period of mourning.

AHAHAHA. Dammit, Karl was turned into a vampire just 4 years after the Titanic sank.

His backstory remains mostly as is in-canon, with some tweakings. From a well-off Vietnamese family, sent to university in France, like most of the rich kids during the colonial era. Highly occidentalized. Speaks French and English; openly prefers the former. He's just been turned into a vampire, and is accompanying his wealthy (and evil) brothers on a business trip to America. Not quite so crazy yet, but definitely drunk on his new powers and sense of superiority as a 'perfect being'. Sees everyone as dinner, but is more discreet than his batshit Future!self.

Any rich (and morally ambiguous) businessmen/scientists/elitist snobs are free to recognize him as the wealthy Amshel Goldsmith's new guinea pig ward. Also: victims, playthings, evulzy budddies are welcome! >D

Say hello to upper crust Amory, the son of a tycoon with his teeth deep into America's oil business even after the Sherman Act. He's grown up indulged and spoiled, having made his rounds at all the renowned (and seedy) entertainment establishments of New York, Boston and Paris. His teenage years have made him known for being a callous playboy... and pretty much a dick all around. But when it came to pay his dues and start learning his father's business, he’s resisted and completely underperformed.

And then his father caught him having sex with a man... on his desk. That was the straw that broke the camel's back, and Amory was shipped off to Europe to meet and marry an arranged betrothed. Amory's now aboard the Titanic on his journey back to NYC with his new wife in tow. Some countess whose centuries-old coffers have finally run out. She's exchanged her title for the wealth of America’s new rich. And trust me, Amory detests her. She's old-fashioned, stuffy and boring.

Once they hit the docks of NYC, Amory is planning on ditching his caretaker and new wife! If you're his close friend, he's probably told you this. Except, you know, the ship gonna hit an iceberg. And he's probably gonna die.

Which means his name will be Rudy Cooper, as far anyone else knows ;3 Just like usual. He's heading back to New York to escape suspicion for a number of vicious murders, having spent the last few years living it up in Paris.

I think, for old time's sake, he'll be dying horribly at the end of this one, but he'll be trying like hell to weasel his way onto a lifeboat. Anyone who wants to stop him is more than welcome to.

Olivia Dunham (Bishoff)

Olivia Bishoff has been living in Germany for the past two years, married to her childhood sweetheart Peter Bishoff, son of Walter Bishoff, a scientist who's practically the Einstein of his day. But after Peter disappears on business trip while in New York City, Olivia refuses to rest until she can discover his whereabouts. This headstrong, young woman has been an armchair detective ever since she was just nine years old. Though police work of this time limits women to clerical positions and occasional guard duty, Olivia's been a forceful figure in her hometown, shadowing and solving tough investigations as a civilian.

Finding her husband is a job Olivia won't entrust to anyone but herself. But her sister - Allison Cameron - has insisted that if she's going to cross the Atlantic to look for Peter, then she should at least travel with her, since Olivia is currently two months pregnant with Peter Bishoff's child.

Hanna Cross, Student

Hanna Cross is a young man from Ireland, studying psychology and criminology, with the hopes of becoming a detective like his hero, Sherlock Holmes. And yes, he's well aware that having Holmes as a hero might not be the best idea in the world.

His family, while not rich, is well enough off for him to afford a second class ticket on the Titanic. He's going to visit some family of his who immigrated to New York several years ago, and he hopes to maybe take some classes in the USA as well. After all, new country, new things to learn, right?

I know that statistically, fewer men survived the Titanic sinking, but I think that Hanna's gonna survive this, since I usually put him through the ringer. Not quite sure how yet, but I think it'd be good for him to live through this...maybe lose some fingers to hypothermia or something.

Anything else is up in the air and I'm totally open to plotting anything!

Rapunzel is a young woman on the run. Her entire life has been dictated by her oppressive mother, and for 19 years, she simply went along with it. But when her mother began to plan out an arranged marriage for her, it was the last straw. Stealing some money from her mother, she fled and bought a ticket onto the Titanic, hoping to find freedom in the United States.

I would love for her to have a Cameron-esque romance, meeting somebody and falling in love during the trip. Maybe it results out of her desire to experience things on her own for once, maybe it's instant chemistry, or maybe it's both. Either way, I'd love for her to have a romance, because she needs one badly.

I haven't really figured out the details, but I think I'm going to have her end up drowning in the end, because she's spent 19 years under her mother's thumb and doesn't know how to swim.

I just had to make Stephen a musician for this trip. The Young Mr Stills is an ambitious and talented double bass player who worked his way up from his lower-class background to secure a position in a prestigious London music conservatory. This is his first job out of school, and many people expect great things from him.

Too bad the musicians played as the ship was sinking...


So yes! Stephen is a poor young Canadian lad who ended up in the wrong place. I'd love him to have more staff and steerage-level friends, and even some from the upper classes if they feel like slumming it! I'm currently stuck between letting him drown or having him rescued. If your character would be inclined to sneak him onto a lifeboat, that could be dramatic and awesome! Otherwise, I'll have him going down with the ship like so much of the staff.
