HMD [A - K]
HMD [A - K]
Those who gave their names or nicknames on their applications and the Taken Character List as starting with A through K, please post here.
How's My Driving?
[PROCEED]
IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE! HMD, HMD! HOW'S MY DRIVING? PRETTY GOOD, RIGHT? AREN'T YOU THANKFUL?! GOBBLE IT UP, POLYCHROMATIDS~!!
Welcome back to our more seasoned members, and welcome to you first-timers.
HMD is the gamewide chance for feedback on playing here in
polychromatic.
And here's our philosophy on HMD: praise--it's all well and good (we all love it, yeah?), so if you want to give praise, love, ♥s, whatever, go for it! It's especially great to say what you ♥ so much about a character. For example, how they acted during X curse or Y plot was great, or how they adjusted (or didn't?) to the City was fascinating. But we all know, constructive crit is best when you're looking for advice on how to improve. What we really encourage here are questions. It gives you the chance to maybe understand something, (and maybe you think it makes sense after all now), and the player a chance to explain. For example:
"How did Gary get from Point A in canon to Point B in Poly? It didn't quite make sense to me."
"What started this whole fascination of Sue's with the bananas?"
And then you find out that there's a long, involved story that goes back six months involving the aftermath of a curse, a lizard, a pound of potatoes, a watermelon, three French maids, and a pogo stick. And then it all makes perfect sense.
Or perhaps it doesn't, but you've started a dialogue about the things you perceive versus the things the player perceives.
As decided by community vote, anon is not allowed here on the main HMD post, and IP logging is on. Sorry, Anon. However, we encourage posting a link to your own, personal, anon-enabled crit thread(s) if allowing anon is something you want to do and are comfortable with. But keep in mind that we moderators can't police those crit threads: not only are they anon, but they are on your own journals, and there are dozens of them. But we entreat members of this game to be polite and courteous, logged in or not. We will be watching the main post for any unrest, however, so keep that in mind. (We like to watch.) Let's all keep ourselves like civilized people, and have a decent time. Remember, no road rage in HMD.
To keep things organized, please post your comment in the following format*:
The general disclaimer, as usual, applies:
By choosing to post here on HMD, you may receive comments you don't necessarily enjoy. By posting here, you accept that this could happen, and you're basically okay with it. We will be monitoring this post for abuse and will shut down any instances of abuse we see. However, constructive crit, comments, or questions you just don't like do not count as abuse.
Whew. Now that that's all out of the way, have at it,
polychromatic!
*Please remember our requests regarding sparkles, images, embedded media, and other bits of coding. A little variation on the comment form is fine and tasty, and putting things like gifs or videos behind links or in collapsed threads is fine too, but please consider the loading time for others with slower connections. And take it easy on the placeholders: HMD isn't going anywhere.
And because it's apparently traditional for HMD posts to go up in the middle of the damn night, here we are. =_=v

But daaaaaaaaaaaaaaammn, Veidt was darn tootin' fine from beginning to his very, um.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I love his hair.Even with a year+ in the City, he still manages to be amazed by things that are past his time and looks on them as an learning experience.Reep misses yooooou.
MR. VEIDT, Y U SO FIERCE?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
Caspian is as interesting as usual. I loved his letter to Zach the other day; I think you balance his derpderpderpness with his kingliness really well. I love his logs with Lucy, I think that they're adorable! You've really got his personality and his kind of need to be social and have friends down. I dig him as a foil for the crankiest of the Narnian royalty.
Prince Nuada is always an interesting character to see because he's just so unrepentantly B| all the time. But at the same time you can tell how much he cares about the fact that humans are DESTROYING EVERYTHING and I love playing Jadis off him. Eviltimes soon? Yes yes?
Soooob I miss Eddie + Adrian snarktimes. DAMN IT VEEEIDT.
Otherwise, well. Your characters are balanced and their voices clear as usual. What else should I have expected.

❤ meet me on the equinox
Hm.
NUADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. It makes such a good battle cry. Anyway, I can hear how displeased he is whenever he says just about anything and how that sort of all-encompassing discontentment shifts into something more actively minded when he speaks to the likes of oh you know Jadis. He's somehow subtle and yet NOT AT ALL, and DO NOT ASK ME HOW I MEAN it's JUST WHAT I MEAN SO ACCEPT IT 8| lmfdkls....Yes but I like him a lot and I'm glad he is making it so far. I sense evil makings in...the making with him and the witch and it pleases me greatly even if it sort of doesn't please my characters at all.
ASRAN....you know, they don't even LET lions ON buses. WTF. No really though, I don't think anyone could play him as well as you do, balancing that GODDDDDDDDDDDD aspect with humbling paragon so...many cheers? You've made me like him more than I ever thought I could once I read past LWW. So thank you for that too. /takes stuffed lion out of maintenance closet
Caspian X, blah, blah, blah seals, blah blah hair, blah blah stuff, blah blah maths, blah blah...blah? 8) I GATHER THAT YOU ARE AWARE I really like him since I have basically bullied my way into his life with almost every character at one point or another. /shot To put it into specifics is to be redundant as HELL but I'm apparently resigned to it from all the comments I've made already so yeah. He's the one I could write the most about, well no maybe ASLAN is but that's not the point and the lion still isn't someone I love THAT much so yeah, personal bias wins. It always occurs to me that some people won't see his kingly side, which greatly saddens me because he's beautiful with that mantle, a very different kind of monarch than any of the Kings and Queens of Old and yet he's got the heart that I think say, LWW Peter recognizes best, or could connect with. There is all of this hope but it isn't hope necessarily born predominantly as some would assume of a naiveté as it is of a strong conviction in possibilities. Obviously I'm going a lot of off of what I've seen you portray in him and before that what I got out of the movies because if we go only on the books then it's like a huge faispalm for everyone from the Prince to the Four so lolol but...you're just very good at fleshing out without forcing and I'm extremely glad to get to play closely with you. As a character I liked before but was never terribly impressed by, you've changed him for me in a way that the movies started but you have continued. His general kindness and tendency to be outspoken (Hi Amory and Kate) does justice to his age, being ACTUALLY 18, but he's got all those Not Years that age him more than time does, from experience and the plain state of the history he's both a part of and bound to changing.

SAD THING? I COULD GO ON....

I thought the way you wrote his letter to zach was a [i am biased, look shut up] skldfjdsjl very good way to...convey and show it is there without really showing anything because despite being like idk INTRUSIVE AS HELL SOMETIMES lmfldkjsd 83 um he's also very private in his own way and he doesn't feel the need to shove his royalty in peoples' faces....but it deosn't change that it's there
I CAN'T TYPE THIS KEYBOARD SUCKS HI

Nuada is a cool aloof elf princess. Chase has no reason to tag him other than to get into a fight, and has decided this isn't wise, sob.
I would also like to see Caspian playing a series of horns with his nose, please.

Or so says Amory.
Anyway, I don't remember enough about the Narnia books to concrit on his characterization, but I can say that I absolutely adore him? I love how despite being in the City for over almost two years now (or more?) his generation gap still manifests through his derpderpderp-ness. (IT'S A WORD OKAY.) He's social and kind and I love how he earnestly tries to care about Amory, even though Amory really has only fake spite in return... and mockery involving hair dryers in showers and blender blades. He really is tenacious, that Caspian-- which is exactly why Amory tries to wrestle him off with no avail sob. Unless he can explode like a certain Kate
LOOK WHAT YOU DID, CASPIAN.I'm looking forward to the future, and hope I can plot something out which could make it a bit easier for him to relate to people he's closer to? He's only gotten worse, but he's backing himself into a corner. >_>
He's still be habituated to be a complete asshole.ALSO. I need to tag Caspian more with Tristan because I really do love the CR that's already there and would love to develop it more. Tristan feels admittedly... sort of awkward because of the whole father mix-up, especially, since Caspian = King and He= loser shopboy. HOWEVER. He'll forever be drawn to Caspian because of his face, and considering the events of the end of Stardust... it would be amusing/ironic when I finally update him to that point.
And they need to both share in more derpderpderp moments together because... I see them being a similar sort of
idiotsnaive in the same situations./made no sense but ilu? :3

GOD I FAIL I'M SORRY BON
Basically I have lots of love for your Caspian and just how much you know Narnia because it definitely shows in both your characters. Like, okay, omg Aslan. I haven't done this yet because I'm still trying to figure out how to, but I would really love to tag him with Ginny someday and have them thread. Because. I feel like that would just be so interesting. :3
OKAY I'M GOING TO JUST SHUT UP NOW FFFFFFffff
