HMD [A - K]
HMD [A - K]
Those who gave their names or nicknames on their applications and the Taken Character List as starting with A through K, please post here.
How's My Driving?
[PROCEED]
IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE! HMD, HMD! HOW'S MY DRIVING? PRETTY GOOD, RIGHT? AREN'T YOU THANKFUL?! GOBBLE IT UP, POLYCHROMATIDS~!!
Welcome back to our more seasoned members, and welcome to you first-timers.
HMD is the gamewide chance for feedback on playing here in
polychromatic.
And here's our philosophy on HMD: praise--it's all well and good (we all love it, yeah?), so if you want to give praise, love, ♥s, whatever, go for it! It's especially great to say what you ♥ so much about a character. For example, how they acted during X curse or Y plot was great, or how they adjusted (or didn't?) to the City was fascinating. But we all know, constructive crit is best when you're looking for advice on how to improve. What we really encourage here are questions. It gives you the chance to maybe understand something, (and maybe you think it makes sense after all now), and the player a chance to explain. For example:
"How did Gary get from Point A in canon to Point B in Poly? It didn't quite make sense to me."
"What started this whole fascination of Sue's with the bananas?"
And then you find out that there's a long, involved story that goes back six months involving the aftermath of a curse, a lizard, a pound of potatoes, a watermelon, three French maids, and a pogo stick. And then it all makes perfect sense.
Or perhaps it doesn't, but you've started a dialogue about the things you perceive versus the things the player perceives.
As decided by community vote, anon is not allowed here on the main HMD post, and IP logging is on. Sorry, Anon. However, we encourage posting a link to your own, personal, anon-enabled crit thread(s) if allowing anon is something you want to do and are comfortable with. But keep in mind that we moderators can't police those crit threads: not only are they anon, but they are on your own journals, and there are dozens of them. But we entreat members of this game to be polite and courteous, logged in or not. We will be watching the main post for any unrest, however, so keep that in mind. (We like to watch.) Let's all keep ourselves like civilized people, and have a decent time. Remember, no road rage in HMD.
To keep things organized, please post your comment in the following format*:
The general disclaimer, as usual, applies:
By choosing to post here on HMD, you may receive comments you don't necessarily enjoy. By posting here, you accept that this could happen, and you're basically okay with it. We will be monitoring this post for abuse and will shut down any instances of abuse we see. However, constructive crit, comments, or questions you just don't like do not count as abuse.
Whew. Now that that's all out of the way, have at it,
polychromatic!
*Please remember our requests regarding sparkles, images, embedded media, and other bits of coding. A little variation on the comment form is fine and tasty, and putting things like gifs or videos behind links or in collapsed threads is fine too, but please consider the loading time for others with slower connections. And take it easy on the placeholders: HMD isn't going anywhere.
And because it's apparently traditional for HMD posts to go up in the middle of the damn night, here we are. =_=v

Cameron: SOB SOB SOB Aside from the fact that Cameron is the only person to bring out that catty side of Angela, I had/have an absolute ball during that whole period. I totally prefer your portrayal of Cameron over the hot mess that canon has made her. I can really see how you bring out her "OMFG WHEN IS THE OTHER SHOE GONNA DROP!" neurotic side but then you have the side of her that goes "Maybe I need to be less neurotic..." when she realized where her actions took her.
I don't know just how much longer the girls will play nice but I kinda miss the catfights lol But I'm terrible. I WILL FIND OTHER EXCUSES TO TAG CAMERON. IDC.
Neeeeeeeeil. ILU OKAY. I HAVE NO CRIT BECAUSE I THINK I'VE TOLD YOU ALL MY LURVE FOR HIM ALREADY SO THERE. ALSO HE AND KATE NEED TO HANG OUT MOAR SO SHE CAN SHOW HIM THE HORRORS OF THE INTERNET.

Sob so I love the way you play your characters, and my only problem is I think prolly more a problem with me than with you, but I feel like we don't plot enough (WHICH IS TOTALLY MY FAULT BECAUSE I R TEH ACTIVITY FAIL RECENTLY) but I'd really like to do some solid plotting soon and try to get Anne back on track, and Todd and Neil are kind of her anchors to happy!Anne and not Anne-has-been-orphaned-a-second-time!Anne. Did that make any sense? I don't think it did.
Ignore me. ILU.
❤
I THINK I maybe one of the few people who liked her a lot in canon at one point and then was like WHAT IS GOING ON....you know as opposed to HATE HATE HATE from the get-go which I see a lot of in the fandom for reasons beyond my understanding. That said, I feel you've kept her true to what we see in the show and written it much, much more cohesively and acceptably than what we've been given in say, exacts of dialogue and some actions in the program. You keep her over and undertones extremely tight and that's very admirable for someone like Cameron--in my opinion, who to me seems always rather difficult to grasp without making her Too Much this or Too Little that. She sounds true to what I remember about her despite not keeping up consecutively anymore. I'm really really really needing to tag her again with Pevensie. She was I THINK the first female he actively got along with in the City sob...figures. Also want to tag her with OTHER Peter....I think they'd get along what with those morals lololol....well or not but ANYWAY...HI. I LIKE YOUR CAMERON. HI.
NEIL.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII adore Neil. I don't have a lot TO say about him, because well I'm a lazyku and dlksfjsd getting all sreepy on this paper AND STUFF but I wanted to tell you I think that you bring a really distinct verve to Poly by having him. He's one of those characters that seems very unique without punching you in the face, and you carry him through just wonderfully. /MUST TAG MOAR ETC SORRY ALMS I KNOW I FAIL BUT I LOVE HIM I DO ;-; and youuuuu
DEXTER IDK BUT THE USERNAME ALWAYS MAKES ME LSKDJFDLSJFLDS D| but that might be the point? >.>;;; sdojfklesdojl;sd

Neil is such a sweetheart and I want to spoil him forever and he needs to post more so Rosella can have more opportunities to do exactly that. Sob. I love what you and Rae have been doing with the Neil and Todd relationship thing, and that it's not easy or convenient for them but it just works. I'm intrigued by the deity trade they've made (especially now that Todd has his voice back, yay!) and seeing what sort of complications come of it, and I'm looking forward to getting to play out the Christmas season with them.
Also, trolling Neil with Death aka Bastian on 4th Wall Day was amazing fun.
Especially when everybody went and told Rosella about it afterwards, haha.I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. ♥no subject
Oh my god.
I love you Cameron so. Fucking. Much. She has that mix of squishy teddy bear and self-righteous bitch and I can hear her voice when you post. You have a fantastic talent for getting her mannerisms just right. It's really terrific.
And Neil is just so squishable. I love how you've done his uh "relationship" and I love that every time someone brings up sex or boyfriends to him he's like, alskdjfalkjfd WHY ARE PEOPLE SO OKAY WITH JUST SAYING IT IN PUBLIC. I wanna hug him. Like all the time.

You made me love Cameron. Furthermore you really helped me start to understand Cameron, which is a miracle given the inconsistencies of some of her writing in the show. When I rewatch now I pay a lot more attentioon to what she's doing and how she's acting or reacting and IDK. I think rather than seeing canon Cameron in what you write, I see your Cameron in the canon. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT MAKES SENSE but I mean that looking at her through the window of your portrayal makes her seem clearer to me. There was always a point at which I liked her, but the last two seasons put me off I thought forever. And then you went and did this at such an inopportune time, sigh.
You also made me love Cameron and Chase. Oddly the little nothingy logs where not much is accomplished and they just catch up with each other or calm down in the tail end of a curse are some of my favourites but I also keep a very special place for those times when actual feelings come to the fore, and I hope there will be more of them because it. is very interesting.
And Cameron and S6 Chase. SOB. I wonder what she would have done if he'd told her.
Anyway I am so grateful for getting to play this out with you, your Cameron makes my Chase far better than he could have been otherwise.
And Neil is still awesome.

...I mean, I'd quite like to play Justin off of Neil more, because... nerd solidarity, and things like that. I need to throw Justin at Brian, too, because they could have very interesting conversations. Or something.
