IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE! HMD, HMD! HOW'S MY DRIVING? PRETTY GOOD, RIGHT? AREN'T YOU THANKFUL?! GOBBLE IT UP, POLYCHROMATIDS~!!
Welcome back to our more seasoned members, and welcome to you first-timers.
HMD is the gamewide chance for feedback on playing here in
polychromatic.
And here's our philosophy on HMD: praise--it's all well and good (we all love it, yeah?), so if you want to give praise, love, ♥s, whatever, go for it! It's especially great to say what you ♥ so much about a character. For example, how they acted during X curse or Y plot was great, or how they adjusted (or didn't?) to the City was fascinating. But we all know, constructive crit is best when you're looking for advice on how to improve. What we really encourage here are questions. It gives you the chance to maybe understand something, (and maybe you think it makes sense after all now), and the player a chance to explain. For example:
"How did Gary get from Point A in canon to Point B in Poly? It didn't quite make sense to me."
"What started this whole fascination of Sue's with the bananas?"
And then you find out that there's a long, involved story that goes back six months involving the aftermath of a curse, a lizard, a pound of potatoes, a watermelon, three French maids, and a pogo stick. And then it all makes perfect sense.
Or perhaps it doesn't, but you've started a dialogue about the things you perceive versus the things the player perceives.
As decided by community vote, anon is not allowed here on the main HMD post, and IP logging is on. Sorry, Anon. However, we encourage posting a link to your own, personal, anon-enabled crit thread(s) if allowing anon is something you want to do and are comfortable with. But keep in mind that we moderators can't police those crit threads: not only are they anon, but they are on your own journals, and there are dozens of them. But we entreat members of this game to be polite and courteous, logged in or not. We will be watching the main post for any unrest, however, so keep that in mind. (We like to watch.) Let's all keep ourselves like civilized people, and have a decent time. Remember, no road rage in HMD.
To keep things organized, please post your comment in the following format*:
The general disclaimer, as usual, applies:
By choosing to post here on HMD, you may receive comments you don't necessarily enjoy. By posting here, you accept that this could happen, and you're basically okay with it. We will be monitoring this post for abuse and will shut down any instances of abuse we see. However, constructive crit, comments, or questions you just don't like do not count as abuse.
Whew. Now that that's all out of the way, have at it,
polychromatic!
*Please remember our requests regarding sparkles, images, embedded media, and other bits of coding. A little variation on the comment form is fine and tasty, and putting things like gifs or videos behind links or in collapsed threads is fine too, but please consider the loading time for others with slower connections. And because it's apparently traditional for HMD posts to go up in the middle of the damn night, here we are. =_=v

So, Amy. WHAT THE FUCK DO I SAY THAT YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW.
I like the vibe we've carved out for Faith and Sylar? Time has gone by, they've both changed, and they're trying to make things the way they were and are unable, and just... keep swinging apart and together and HORRORS. At some point, it needs to come out that Sylar tortured Angelus because Faith basically giftwrapped him. >.>
YOUR FRED EEEEEEEEEEEEEE I adore her. FOREVER. And when I pick up Dawn again, they need to be geeky together.
SO CONTINUE BEING AWESOME, OKAY? ILU BAI.
/goes to finish that tag

I do like how they clash and then smooth things over because they fear being alone. It's fun to pit their issues together, and I thank you for putting up with the unstability of the situation- I mean, it seems like ANY of the action posts we do together, some little thing could hit one of them wrong and BAM, complete chaos. But I've always sort of liked that, which I guess is obvious with my previous litany of unstable characters. >___> And yeah, I think that would be a good thing to come out. XD
The geeks shall rule. :3
Thaaank you. :D

I love it, honestly. Faith is such a reactionary, volatile character that if they weren't so unsteady and potentially explosive I think we would be doing both the characters a disservice.
IT MUST HAPPEN BECAUSE COME ON, FAITH HAS NEVER EVER GOTTEN AWAY WITH ANYTHING WHY START NOW.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeks. <3
ILU.

And yes, I do believe you're correct. And especially where Sylar is in this timeline, it's just...yeah, unstable is the word of the day.
XD Too true. Sylar won't be upset about this thing- he figures they should be proud. Sylar doesn't really get it, most of the time. >_>;

That said I am constantly feeling UNDER SIEGE while watching Heroes, but I think the one thing they've kept RELATIVELY consistent is Sylar...and I like that while he is trying to change in a sense he also seems to have those tendencies that overrule those wants, whether we want to blame it on his admittedly screwed up beginnings [not his fault] or things along the way or both. IIIII am interested to see where you're headed with him or if there is any short-term plateau you ARE heading toward [if you are] and then where to leap from after that. The nice thing is even when he platforms it only seems like a temporary thing so you never have to worry about stasis with him per se. Depending on where I update Peter to [any input btw on that? weep] things may get a bit hairier but er...then again maybe not and either way I am just super glad and grateful to have your Sylar still around!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for hanging in there. I know stuff's been difficult /vague and LOTS OF STUFF JUST GOING ON but dslfkjsd so glad...so grateful.../repeats self
❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Ahaha, wow, yes. Heroes is sort of everywhere- kind of like Lost, I hear, but I haven't watched that show. And they did sort of add some Fail background to Sylar so not everything was his fault and he really didn't have a chance....but I like exploring that, whether he can make the right choices, now that he has a SLIGHT idea what they are.
Where I'm heading with him-- well, I think I'm probably going to kickstart it with the amnesia, and then continue on from there. I really think you're right in that they're kind of slowly building on Sylar's actually trying to be less horrible. Things keep happening that get in the way, but he seems to be repeatedly trying. I'm sort of hoping he gets back to that in this season, after he's doing being super-pissed at everyone for messing around with him so badly (hell, I'd be pissed at Angela too, if no one else). But I'll see how canon deals with it and sort of...work with that accordingly. I do like adding the mix of the City into it, because he's had more chances and more people trusting him here than he's ever had back home.
Of course, he's also seriously unstable, so....who really knows what will happen? XD I'm sure the amnesia update (which I've only got one scene I want to squeeze in between now and then), and whenever I update him to this latest episode (lol) will both seriously stir things up. As far as your update- man, anything'd be good. There's pros and cons for doing it before/after/right next to Sylar's. :3
I'm super glad to be here, and that you like having Sylar around. :D I love playing with your Peter and will have to poke at him further. I should be around more this next month, thankfully.

And as far as balancing the two characters go? It's actually much easier than if I was playing another psycho. I was playing Sylar and Spike at the same time, and I just couldn't make that work- they were too close, personality-wise. With these two I'm able to switch without too much of a problem. :D
Again, thanks- I'm really glad to hear I have her voice down, and that it hasn't drifted too much due to Not Playing Often. And I'm very glad she's adorable. XD

Re: Amy!
The good side to knowing so few canons? I was just as surprised as Rip at Sylar. Oh my, that still might be slightly the wrong way to redemption. xD
no subject
Ah! I should mention, for possible plot purposes later. >:3 Sylar is...being sneaky, as he tends to be. He had been caught by Millennium the first time he was here, and he had a chip inserted in his brain that made him more susceptible to commands from the group. He didn't care for that much. >_> So he doesn't like Millennium, but had been semi-allied with them in order to try and find an in to get rid of them. Now that the Major's gone, he's thinking he has a chance. Once he find out Road's involved, he's going to be all D: D: D: because he's scared to death of her (previous bad experience XD), but at the moment he's all "Yeah, I'll totally trick them!"
...so yeah, not exactly what he seems, but....he also wants to rip everyone the littlest bit associated with Millennium apart, so. >_> That's not exactly redemption-worthy either, is it? XD
Regardless of whatever happens, it's so much fun interacting with your Rip. It's been far too long since I've seen Helsing, but I always squee a little when I see her replying. :3
no subject
Ahh, I see. Sneaky him, heh. Rip does try to involve her allies into Millennium plots, since allies = more protection from Alucard and she does so enjoy company during the evil stuff. That's so asking for a plot later, y/y?
Also, pffff, being scared of Road is so warranted.
Looking forward to more interaction~.
And awwww, thank you. <3 That's a lovely compliment.
no subject
Oh yes, that is definitely asking for later plot! >:3 There's lots that can be done with that. :D
And yeah, being scared of Road is MORE than warranted. o__o
You are very welcome!

Fred first! This is all old news to you, I believe, but Fred's one of my favorite Buffyverse characters of all time and you play her beautifully. She's sweet, she's brilliant, she's rambly, she's Fred. I'm having a great time playing Penny off of her. (There should be a club, I think. One for Nice Female Characters That Joss Killed.) Keep being amazing!
I don't know much of anything about Heroes and Sylar, but your Sylar makes me want to pick Drusilla back up. There's something adorable about kind-of-evil characters dancing and such. Oh, question, though--and it's mostly just out of curiosity, so disregard if you like. XD What's up with Sylar and time-telling devices? Is this canon, or am I picking up on things that aren't really happening?
no subject
Oh, I'm glad Fred is still as good as she was last HMD. I was hoping I didn't lose her voice down the way. Playing her with Penny is such fun, they work really well together. And yes, there should be a Club. XD
As far as Sylar goes-- yes, that is canon! He spent pretty much his entire life as a watchmaker, and one of the earliest scenes you see of him (when the show went 'six months ago' to look at the origins of all the characters in season one) is of him being able to tell someone's watch is mildly broken from five feet away. It's definitely his specialty, and it's also how his intuitive aptitude ability comes out in the show's soundtrack. He basically gets lots of broken clock noises. XD
So how fun was it to bring him to this city in particular? :D Once he realized it was based on a clock, he was sure he was dreaming. And that's also why he's so gung-ho about getting to the clock mechanism Underground-- the fact that he can't understand the biggest clock he's ever seen is driving him (more) nuts. It borders on obsession, although he has a few things tempering that right now- basically his instability due to his point in canon is making him distracted.
ANYWAY- all that rambling is definitely a big ol' "yes, that's canon". :3 And awww, yes, that image of him and Dru dancing together is kind of sweet. It was fun to have her back, even just for fourth-wall day. :3

And he's the only person here who's spent decades with the ticking noise....but just hearing one big one affects him more than he thinks. XD It is not good for the going (more) crazy.
Amy!
Re: Amy!
Re: Amy!
Fred, okay she's adorable and there's no way I could dislike her but I think you add another dimension to her somehow that reels me right in. Whether it's that you let me see her from a different POV or I can see a little more into her thought process though you, it's something that opens her up a little more to me. She's just...so so Fred. If that makes sense. Playing Lorne being head over heels for his Freddles is so very easy and that's due to your characterization of her, mmk? Mmk.
Sylar! Watching Heroes makes me want to swat him away forever. Poly? Makes me want to hang onto him forever! You play his two sides very close to each other and there's this great inner battle he's dealing with which is just really fascinating and kind of...I'm actually wondering where his chips are going to fall in the City. Either way will be interesting and I hope I can be less fail and have Lorne play a part in it! And your Sylar makes it hard for me to NOT app my HRG, for srs.
Overall, you've got such a grasp on your characters that it makes it both fun and easy to interact with them. *SMOOCHES*
Re: Amy!
Wow, really? I do try to take the themes the writers seem to push and run with them, but I'm so glad to hear that I make characters more likable as characters. :D This is such a compliment, you don't even know. I seriously know Sylar especially can be considered extremely annoying characterwise, and even though I love playing with him, I can understand players not caring for the guy. So if I have made him less annoying in your eyes that is awesome. :D
I am also very glad you like my Fred! My own 'voice' is a little too close to hers, so sometimes I worry that I'm bleeding over into MY own ramblings instead of hers. >____> But it seems that's not a problem, at least not yet, so yaaaay. :3 I will try to keep her- well, both of them up, really.
Sylar in particular is so unstable that I'm interested to see where those chips fall here in the City. I'm really looking forward to playing it out and seeing how it goes, and hell yes Lorne should have a part in that. OMG DO IT DO IT-- ahem. I mean, HRG would totally put Sylar into a downward spin, which would be awesome, because I'm mean to my characters. Also, I bet your HRG is fantastic. :3
Anyway! Thank you so much! I really appreciate the input from such great players and you are definitely right up there. <33333 I am looking forward to this month.
