How It Works:

Hey Thorn!

I wanted to let you know that the Demon's Lexicon crew got me to read the first book! (I'm waiting on the second book because my library is taking its time).

On that note! I really love what you do with Alan. I think he's got a great mix of that sweetness that really is apparent in how he interacts with almost everyone. I also think he has a fantastic sense of curiosity, especially about things that I guess he feels might be supernatural.

I love his interactions with Saya and I hope at some point in the future he can puzzle out what she really is to a slightly larger degree.

I just. Love our threads between Kazu and Akito .. or Agito. Either way, they are still just the best of threads.

I really, really love your Kazu. Which isn't being very constructive but he is just how I could imagine him in- this sort of setting away from constant shounen. Even without the SHOUNEN SUPER FIGHTS ALL THE TIME-- there's still all that training and srsness and flying rollerblades and-- yeah. all of that nice stuff. and of course being everyone's bitch. can't forget that.

Alan! I really like your portrayal of Alan, since to be completely honest he was never my favourite character in the book. As in, it wasn't really until the third book that I had much of an opinion of his character at all, at least in terms of what SRB shows us in the books. But! I really enjoy stalking Alan's threads and seeing his interaction with other characters, and I think you have managed to make him a way more interesting and complex character-- to me, anyway! I like that Jamie and him are getting more interaction, since that kind of peters out in the books in favour of Jamie and Nick's, and I loooove being able to thread and be ridiculous, but also being able to have appropriate serious threads as well! And basically I just think that you put a lot of thought into him and it definitely shows and I REALLY LIKE ALAN OKAY. I COULD TALK ON AND ON ABOUT THIS FOR AGES, but I will spare you.

And Kazu is hilarious, I still crack up at the "department of backstory" line and all his pop culture references. I WILL DO MORE WITH KURURU SOON SO'S WE CAN THREAD MORE. C:

idk your canons ( ...sob), so can't help with that - unless you want something in particular looked at, and I can ogle posts. That said: one of your long term issues lay with activity, and I think you've really improved on that front - not just re: comment counts (because let's face it, you can tag everywhere and it can all be shallow interaction), but also in terms of getting your characters engaged. That's a good direction for you, and I hope it's been enjoyable for you as well ;o;

The only canon I know more than a handful of things about is Demon's Lexicon, and I still love your Alan as much as I did before. Maybe because he's the kind of character you thrive with- with all the layers and the things carefully omitted and the lies. He's never seemed flat to me. And he's got a great dynamic with the cast, so. As a fan of the books, that is enough to keep me happy. 8D

And Kazu is just cute. I want to put him in my pocket.

Well I've never gotten past four chapters of Air Gear so I can't even say hi about that one, therefore I will blabber on about what I do know!

I know Ara compared Nick to an onion of violence, but Alan would have to be a lettuce of deceipt or a cake of lies or maybe an onion of traps and plans. I don't know. I think you deliver his voice fantastically, and it really says a lot when you've got ME wondering and second guessing often with his threads about all the things that Mae will probably never think of...maybe...for a long time. (Like do you like her or is she the new Nick Scooby Snack? Ffff) BUT on the other side, there's the side that comes out to the characters he interacts with, the ones not privvy to his thought process and all that and he's just so. Charming. How does he do it. How do YOU do it?! o_o Never stop surprising! I just hope I'm providing a good cast member for him to be played off on, because well-played characters should benefit from well-played cast members.

And I still have no idea what a flake is, I keep thinking it's edible. If a Thorn flake is edible, does it taste like curry or kittens?

Insert my standard disclaiming of having not read Alan’s canon. THAT BEING SAID, I really love threading him with Ginny! I adore his fascination with magic from other worlds, his subtle sort of dry humour, the way he puts up with Crawford shenanigans, and I stalked the hell out of his thread with Nick’s arrival. I think he’s such a quietly complex character and I often find myself so intrigued by him – especially since you told me on that meme that he’s known for being that liar character and blurring the line between his honesty and not is so interesting because that’s a delicate thing to balance out and play.

I definitely need to tag him more with Ginny because I love having her discuss magic from other places, and I think the first time they really spoke was about doing magic to stop the harpies, and I like having that start to their relationship, if that… makes sense? SOB ANYWAY yes, I really like your Alan and I will one day read the books and I’ll be able to say more helpful things. <3
