How It Works:

So, I don't remember too much of Baccano!, and I have yet to read the light novels, but whatever. Just seeing a happy character makes my day, regardless of how you're playing him. I can't judge that, but I just wanted the chance to say I like Elmer and hope to see him around more when I get the time to BE around more.

Aw, thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying him, and I hope he can continue to make your day! Actually I think playing him has started making me feel like getting smiles out of people is more important than characterization--which in itself is his character, in a way. So anyway, whether or not I've got it right, I'm glad you like him!

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Enjoyment from a hobby > characterization anyway, you know? So if you're enjoying giving others enjoyment? And it just so happens that's his character? I think that's all win!

And, after Fate/Zero novels, I definitely have to make some time to read the Baccano! light novels, he just reminds me of that every time I see him.

I don't think it's just your bias. I thought the anime was amazing, so I'm sure the light novels are even better!

That's the thing - the anime gave me this motivated, energetic happiness. That's what I get from Elmer. Must be another reason I like him so much.

The anime is a really energetic series, isn't it? That's one of the things I love about it. Elmer's just like--that crazy guy in the background who goes up to the people that aren't getting motivated by it and says "Come on, cheer up! You can do it!"

It's been far too long since I ... yes, watched Baccano!, so. Pardon my limited help! Everything seems coherent, in order, in line with what I recall?? He's a fellow who's so happy that it borders on a little mad, which is just what you'd expect from his canon anyway. I have to say, though, I really do appreciate those moments in our threads where Elmer's almost something other than smiling—where Kazu skirts less happy territory and you can sense there's a palpable line! He gets more than he lets on and and I adore it all. Words cannot express how much threads with Elmer brighten my inbox. ♥

I... know nothing about Baccano!, but oh gosh I'm really enjoying tagging with/stalking Elmer. He's so cute and happy and some of his comments have made me laugh out loud and aahh. What is coherency. Long story short, he's awesome o/

I saw Baccano! a last summer and don't remember all the details, but I'm echoing what everyone else said: your Elmer has that mad sort of joy about him, without it overstepping into excess or dissolving into something less than a means of existence for him. CLEARLY I'VE BEEN STALKING THREADS but in short, yes, keep being awesome ♥
