How's My Driving?
[I KNOW YOU'RE EXCITED!!]
How It Works:
[1] List your name and your characters for which you would like some feedback (use our handy form, if you like)!
[2] Please refrain from posting pictures, .gifs, videos, giant text, sparklies, blinking and moving tags, and &c. outside of collapsed threads. For the sake of our sanity and our load times. You are welcome to link to them in top-level comments, but otherwise please save 'em for collapsed threads.
[3] Open hands, await feedback and go forth and leave some polite thoughts, crit, questions, concerns, comments, suggestions, or any combination of the above for your fellow players about their respective characters. In this, we really encourage you to ask questions and get explanations about what has gone into characterization decisions. Communication is key. Find out what went into an action or decision and you may come to understand it better. Let's talk it out.
[4] Please try to be polite and constructive. Can't stress that enough, can I? Give suggestions and ask questions! Be constructive! But please also refrain from using "placeholder" comments. HMD isn't going anywhere, I promise!
[5] If you'd like, you can certainly list your personal HMD posts and contact posts over in the POLYchromatic Rainbow Pages directory.
[6] As per our community poll, Anonymous is off. We'd also like to request that sockpuppets not be used on this HMD. You are welcome to post a link to a personal HMD thread where Anonymous is allowed; these threads are your own lookout.
The form:
To the best of my abilities, I'll keep an ongoing and alphabetical list of everyone's HMD comments here below for your browsing pleasure.

Characters played:
Personal concrit link: i should really make one...
Anonymous allowed/encouraged? Y/N: n.
Other comments? If those who've played with him on memes would also like to comment on Saito (
Other than that, constructive crit is always very welcome. Some of these pups (Tessa, Amy, Ivy sort of) I've had for a while now, hopefully their voices are still there and I play them consistently.... Just. Any comments, questions, advice... I'd be happy for it ♥

My one suggestion would be to maybe study their speech patterns a bit more, individualize them, play around with their voices - especially since you play a lot of characters right now, there is sometimes the dangers of their not coming off a little flat, or too much alike. It's nothing huge, just something to be aware of.
Good job as a whole, I think, and I hope to get to tag you more!

In my experience, at least: it really helps to introduce verbal ticks, or phrases you associate with the character, or even a voice in your head.

i'm glad we had that plurk convo t'other day, and honestly, if there's ever anything concerning/worrying you, DON'T WORRY ABOUT BRINGING IT UP. we have v. similar opinions on the tid characters and books in general, so i doubt it would ever cause any problems re: play. i'm really glad that you're willing — and want — to develop tessa in ways that are realistic and in some ways, i guess, braver than anything that cc seems willing to do with her in canon — because tessa is a strong character, even if cc doesn't always do a good job of portraying it.
(also lmao, i will be so entertained if tessa ends up getting over will before he gets over her. BUT THAT'S NOT REALLY RELATED TO ANYTHING CONCRIT-Y.)

... I had a point, but I lost it.
(yeah, that would be amusing. but then, she's spend long enough pining after him aslkdjaljs)

I know I mostly play with Rhodey outside of here, but he is SO FUCKING AMAZING. HE IS WONDERFUL. I would marry and keep him.
I need to tag Tessa and Ivy more. And I also need to give Saito a poke.

I think lately I haven't been as good with Amy as I could be, so I think I'm gonna do a canon-review one of these days to get her voice properly right again, but I'm so happy that you like her alsdjasd her friendship with Bucky is one of my favourite things and oh man, Eleven. ELEVEN!
Rhodey would make the bestest husband. Fact.
Basically what you're saying is that we don't have enough tags yet? Because I can get behind that idea. Really. /eyes inbox :D

Ahahahaha, we just keep feeding off each other.

I just have a lot of fun with all of your characters, Tona! I really look forward to what we have planned with Ivy, Eames' and Rhodey's barking, and hopefully more threads between Tessa and Eames now that they have so much in common, just an entirely different spectrum when it comes to approaching it - it fascinates both me and Eames!
As for Saito, I think he's great! He has a very distinct business-with-pleasure sort of attitude when it comes to the way he speaks that I think you do a great job with - the only thing I would suggest is maybe if you wanted to dick around with a possible prose or action log with brackets, we could practice his internal thoughts and stuff like that? :) Up to you! \o

Eames' and Rhodey's interaction was wonderful and alskjdaj IN CASE YOU HADN'T NOTICED i'm kind of really looking forward to family day an awful lot u.u /the least subtle and Tessa and Eames just need all the interaction. I think Tessa can learn a lot from Eames in terms of self-confidence and confidence in her abilities and what it means to Change/forge someone else, idk, and maybe Eames can learn something from her as well.
Haha, yeah. I should definitely practice his internal thoughts. For the most part I haven't done that because— well, I shouldn't quite know where to start. I think if I'm really apping him here, I'll need to come up with a proper background for him, if only so that I have some sort of reference for myself. I both love and hate that about Inception, how much freedom it gives //

Sometimes I wish Amy had as much characterization in her tags as Tessa does. And I think this is something you go back and forth on so it isn't an all the time thing. Sometimes she's spot on and sometimes she sounds like any other character. And we all have those days where we just aren't feeling it or where things just aren't coming out right so I completely get it. I've been playing Derek in some form for so many years that I realized toward the end of last year that my tags with him had gotten really flat. I've been really having to work on him lately to make sure there's more there for both his characterization and for people to have enough to respond to.
Maybe just listen a little more for her specific voice in your head when writing her tags? Of course I JUST finished re-watching what's out of her seasons with all the Rory/Amy love (insert fangirl squee here as I hope you get another Rory soon) and I hear her very clearly right now. That will go away soon, I'm sure. lol
I love Iron Man and I really need to try to get in on some tags with him. And The Archive, I know nothing of.
Anyway that's all I can give you even though it isn't much, I know. Sorry I talked about Amy so much. It's the fandom out of all your famdoms that I know the best! lol ♥

I'm really glad that you enjoy Tessa and that her tags made you put those books on the to-read list. I really enjoyed the first one in particular. The second, not so much. I have issues with the second one, but ah, they're still enjoyable reads, really! It's a wonderful thing to hear that her characterisation comes across so well!
When it comes to Amy, I think you're absolutely right. Some days, her voice just... isn't quite there and she becomes more generic, I suppose? It's definitely something I'm going to work on. Today before answering her tags, I spent just five minutes re-watching some DW and listening to her speech patterns and it made such a difference for me in having her voice in my head. I think I'm generally okay on her characterisation, but it's her voice that I need to work on, so I'm going to focus on that. Adding some in brackets characterisation might also help (which I think you meant?) is a brilliant idea as well and should force me to consider her more carefully when replying to people. I think I have a nice list of things I can do to make Amy's voice better and less flat/generic again. I'm definitely going to work on her. Thank you so much for pointing this all out and offering suggestions ♥!
Don't worry about talking much about Amy, I really appreciate it and I think she's the one I need to work most on, so it's definitely warranted u.u

YES! That really helps, doesn't it? Even just watching one episode or part of an episode. I have to do that sometimes too. I say 'have to' like it's such a chore to watch Doctor Who or Criminal Minds or Buffy. It really isn't, but it does help with the whole voice thing!

Rhodey! Okay, the position he's in with interacting with Howard is understandable and awkward and whatnot because he's his son's best friend, but that makes it glorious, and I really hope we can thread more with them in future, especially when Howard finally catches on. But your Rhodey, god, I love him. You play the soldier side, which is there, the fact that he's strong and independent, but then he's also this big softy beneath, and he cares about things. I don't know, I seriously just love him.
Amy makes me laugh. She's so Amy-like and wonderful, and Howard's kind of scared of her, but jdkhg she's so spot-on. She's got that feisty, bossy side, but then she's fun and nice in and around it.
I don't really know much of Archive, but she's adorable, and I think Howard should always check up on her. Also, he finds her curious, it's a genius thing. You're just a great RPer and I find it easy to bounce off you in threads, and you're the sweetest to talk to. :3

I adore the awkwardness between Rhodey and Howard, and just generally their interaction, it is a wonderful thing okay. And ahaha I'm glad that those aspects of Rhodey come through well enough! I don't really have much experience playing soldiers or even any reference for the mindframe, so I'm glad I'm not completely screwing it up, yes. And he cares so much, it's one of those things I like about him.
Amy is the most feisty bossy lady I have. I adore playing her. Must do some canon-reviews with her to make sure her voice doesn't slip, but yesss glad to hear you enjoy her and her voice! \o/
Howard absolutely needs to continue checking up on Ivy. Because of reasons. I require this.
aldsjalsj I'm glad you think so! /hugs

ifdhgkeg you could never screw up Rhodey! Seriously, he's the best thing ever, and I want all of the excuses to bother him so much more.
Canon reviewing never hurts, but she really is great already.
Muahaha. He will. He knows nothing of children, but he can make it up as he goes and they can be ridiculous.

The others I can't comment on, but I do enjoy the threads I've seen for them.

Amy has got to be difficult because of all the weirdness canon has put her through and I think sometimes you struggle with her voice but lately I've noticed she seems to have gotten more consistent and seems to flow a bit better so kudos to you for getting her and keeping her on track.
I need to hit up Ivy and Rhodey with my guys as well just because Ivy seems like she'll be fun and Rhodey I know is a cool character. They both are interesting to read and a lot of fun in any case.

Amy... yeah. Amy is probably the one I struggle most with, so my goal for now is to do some canon reviewing and just getting her voice straight in my head. I need to work on her a bit, but I think I've already started picking it up a bit, so if that's noticeable, yay! :D
I shall welcome any and all characters you throw at them /reaches for
